I’ve always loved outdoor adventures, and now I get to tell the stories of the brands that make them possible.

Bluemoosephotos started many years ago after the breakdown of my first marriage. I found I had spare time to explore my hobbies and wanted to get into surf photography, so promptly went out and bought my first Nikon superzoom camera. The resolution wasn't great but the versatility of the camera meant I was able to explore a variety of photographic styles without having to worry about swapping lenses - a soft start.

Having mucked around for a few months I decided what I needed was regular practice. With that in mind I started a 'photo a day' project, putting the resulting images in an online blog. A lot of them were terrible, but it taught me to be constantly looking for unusual angles, different perspectives, and ways to make a normally boring shot more interesting, even if it meant extensive editing. It also led me to find that I enjoyed landscapes and seascapes over pure surf photography, even if I still had a lot to learn about composition and lighting.

Fast forward 5 years and I became a father, naturally purchasing a decent camera to be able to capture all the special moments (not realising that a baby means very little time to shoot). The salesman convinced us to go for the new Sony Mirrorless cameras that were coming out and thus I learnt to use the Sony Alpha A7.

Nowadays I fit my photographic sessions around a full time job and busy family life, which means I mostly shoot in pre-dawn and dawn light during summer. A typical morning consists of a drive to the beach before dawn, setting up and shooting as the sky is changing colour, a surf if the swellis  up, and then a post-surf shoot of the locals making the most of the waves. Editing mostly happens in the evenings after the family is asleep.

So why bluemoosephotos? Because it gives me time to reflect, time to create, and time to capture and share the joys of life with others. Most importantly it gives me energy to make the most of my family time.

Now that you're here, why not take a look around. Hopefully you like it, but if not, that's fine too, I hope you find what you're looking for. Life is about experiences, may yours be enjoyable.
