Hi, I’m Richard Ward, the photographer behind Bluemoosephotos, a Perth-based sports photography business capturing the action, people and atmosphere that make sport memorable.
I photograph athletes, clubs and sporting events across Perth and Western Australia, creating professional images that do more than document what happened. They capture the effort, emotion, celebration and moments that athletes, families and clubs want to remember.
From fast-paced match action to team photography, tournaments and club events, my aim is simple: capture great sporting moments and make it easy for clients to use and share them.
From adventure to sports photography
Photography grew naturally from my love of the outdoors.
Growing up in the South-West of Western Australia, I spent plenty of time surfing, hiking, climbing and mountain biking. Those environments taught me to anticipate movement, work with changing conditions and look for the moment before it happens.
Eventually, I started taking a camera along.
What began as an interest in capturing outdoor adventure developed into a passion for photographing sport. The technical challenge is part of what I enjoy, but what really keeps me coming back is the unpredictability.
You don't get a second chance at the winning goal, the diving catch, the celebration or that split-second expression that tells the story of the game.
That's what I love about sports photography.
